This week I have two softball championship parties to attend so without much further ado

Taking a cue from Jay-Z and R Kelly yesterday we had a Softball Fiesta at Bourbon Street Bar to celebrate our Bravery Championship. Now while we lacked the lovely ladies, we did have some bling bling to shine
and the alcohol was all top shelf thanks to the our shortstop and Bartender Devin
Special thanks to classy Performing Arts commissioner Jack Mulcahay, true Mensch , for coming out and enjoying the evening with us
and our team class was represented by Chris "Lucky" Lutkin
and our gracious manager Jack "Bandanna Man" Cutler
(OK Jack now that we won please don't bet on the Jets anymore - that was our deal)
I'm retired from the bar/club scene and normally I don't really feel these events much, but this team was different as it went through and overcame so much off and on field turmoil to earn a championship.
On Monday the Jets
won a listless game 24-6 over their hated and 0-5 pathetic rival, the Miami Dolphin, better Luck
next year.
On a night where the Jets inducted players into their Ring of Honor and got a much needed win
they didn't earn any honor or respect among their fans as their performance was lackluster. Check that we have one player who deservedly was introduced last
who was worth the price of admission - Darrelle Revis - who in terms of greatness is truly alone on Jet Goon Island. Right now without him the team is mediocre at best.
The offense is a joke. We went 3 and out on 4 straight drives. Pathetic. Should have fired Brian Schottenheimer one year early rather than one year too late
Offensive line played better but Sanchez was out of sync and running game below average
Plaxico is off to a slow start - He's invisible. He better get it together soon or go back to D-Block
The defense puts little QB pressure and isn't swarming
Special Teams have been good. Not perfect but good
At 3-3 we are in the middle of the pack with the explosive Chargers coming into town. We are like 31st in total 1st downs this year. Horrible. We've beaten the Chargers several times the last few years, but their kicker Nate Kaeding is out for the year so we can't rely on him to miss game winning kicks against us anymore. Time to progress, not regress anymore. If we don't play better Revis will indeed be alone on an Island.
Now I face is the cold reality of my email inbox
full of job notifications. I'm trying to smack this one out the park and rebuild my career. Unfortunately, as I click on a bunch of these sites all I see is "position filled". After seeing that shit maybe I will pop another ibuprofen pill, but that would be the easy way out. It's frustrating but not impossible.
Often it's not what you know rather who you know, but in times like this a fundamental softball concept serves me well - Hustle. Time to hustle off the field, as all I have left now is nothing is my word and my balls and the only game in town is the job hunting one.
Where there is a will there is a way. Never give up
Tonight I'm going toJets-Dolphins Monday Night Football showdown
where the Jets season is unquestionably on the line versus our win less rivals, who you know are treating this nationally televised game as their Super Bowl. Definitely, worthy of a Primetime spot.
This being an ESPN Monday night game, I can't help but think about the network's recent action versus Hank Williams. For years one of my favorites parts of Monday Night football was the beginning where singer Hank Williams would sing "Are You Ready for Some Football"
The guy was fun, a good performer, and got you pumped up for the game.
Recently Mr.Williams was fired for the network after the following interview
Everyone knows I am 100% for the Freedom of Speech, but c'mon that was ridiculous and utterly inappropriate. Obama to Hitler? That is flat out disrespectful and wrong. I am totally for criticizing the President, disagreeing with the President, poking fun at the President, but these statements were completely out of bounds and personally offensive to not only Obama but to millions.
In softball I frequently criticize league commissioners, committee's, and officials
but except for Mr Magoo I have never made it personal. http://softballinsider.blogspot.com/2011/05/do-crime-do-time.html Mr. Magoo ain't exactly Hitler and whether I agree or disagree with a decision or not, I try my very best to respect the office of commissioner.
You have to have respect for the office of the President. The man is far from perfect, but the facts (recession and war) are that he is cleaning up another administration's mess. Mr William was an employee of ESPN and you cannot get away with such offensive comments and not expect repercussions. Mr. Williams paid for his ignorance and insensitivity with his job.
