Players Lost to the Softball Dark Side

Every Star Wars nerd knows the Yoda quote

“Fear is the path to the dark side.
Fear leads to anger.
Anger leads to Hate
Hate leads to suffering.”

He explains how one negative emotion leads to another negative emotion which eventually leads to the worst possible case scenario - Suffering. If preventable no one should suffer and this quote all begins with one of the most basic human emotions - Fear.

Fear of Failure is the most prevalent and dangerous emotion all athletes experience and does definitely lead to the dark side of performance , but let's save that important sports psychology topic for another day. For now, let's move down the chain of Yoda's dark side path and talk about an emotion every softball player has experienced - Hate

Hate is part of sports, softball is no different. In SB you can hate  :
  • Officials
  • Fields
  • Opponents
  • Leagues
  • Your Manager
  • Rules
  • Yourself - your a perfectionist - another topic for another day
But the worst kind of Hate in softball that undoubtedly leads to Suffering is :
Hating your Own Teammate without Respect

Now I'm not talking about being "a Hater" on someone skill, that's jealousy. I'm talking about hating the very sight of one of the guys you play with b/c he/she is a :
  • Whiners, Complainers, or cry baby
  • Selfish
  • Cares more about their stats than winning
  • Liar
  • Bully
  • Cheater
  • Crack head
  • Asshole
  • Power Tripping Fool
  • Two Faced Hypocrite
  • etc - you get the point
We all have personal and playing flaws, but when teammates Hate AND Don't Respect one another, then it becomes a destructive combination that only leads to softball tension and suffering.
We can all change, I have, so have others,  but once hate sets in escaping the Softball Dark side is a daunting challenge. Players who have been lost to this dark side are best ignored and left alone.

Your better off on focusing on the Good people in your softball life
they may not be perfect but they are worth your time.

B96 Discipline sets the Tone for Determined A96 Player to Claim the Belt

Tonight was a night for disciple in Central Park as the tone was set early by a bunch of B96 Jedi's training on the Great Lawn

Ironically it was Lawyertime's most disciplined, determined, and focused A96 player John "Shea" Sierra, known to many of you as one of softball's biggest losers, http://softballinsider.blogspot.com/2011/06/biggest-softball-losers.html , who took control this evening. After spending two hours in the gym working on his fitness goals, Shea did his Babe Ruth imitation on the field as a pitcher and hitter to earn the LawyerTime championship belt.

Keep going Shea, your gonna do it brother. Overall this win was very good for team chemistry

and Lawyertime remained undefeated. We are not cocky or brash about being undefeated so far, but we are honest about the fact that we want it. It matters. Ask those asshole 72' Dolphins

    if it matters. It matters.

On a side note, in 2006 LT did not lose a game, but we tied one thanks to late game heroics by forfeit avoiding all star Palma Blank.

    Booty Call = Practice Bat

In the real world, you have a girlfriend/wife, but many true "playas for life" have a Booty call on the side. Where the Term "Booty Call" is used when someone calls another person to come over just for sex.... calling for booty.

In the softball/baseball world, many "players" have their gamer for live action
but also have a practice bat on the side
but that's not where the similarities end ......

Top Ten Ways a Booty Call and Practice Bats are similar.

    10. By their very nature, both are Abused, can take the Abuse, and like the Abuse
    9. Girlfriend/Wives and Gamers are seen in public, Booty Calls and Practices bats are not
    8. You don't care if you lose either b/c they are easily replaceable
    7. Both have dents that you overlook for the immediate satisfaction of the moment
    6. You try new things with a booty call and practice bat that you wouldn't otherwise try in real life or with the game on the line
5, Both are good outlets for built up frustrations and aggression
    4. You are not emotionally or financially attached to either
    3. You keep both on the down low until you really need them during non peak hours
    2. Both can be habit forming - some good, some bad

and the Number One Ways a Booty Call and Practice Bats are similar

    1. You don't real need them but you like to have them around just in case you hit a slump

    Me Llamo Eric Brown

The following long ass boring video isn't exclusive TMZ footage of Buddy Holly still alive and pitching in Central Park.

No it's my friend Eric Brown on the hill. Eric doesn't get enough love in softball as he has always been a class act, good pitcher, and fearless competitor. More importantly, any day you get to see and talk to him in the park is a good day in my book. Awesome guy.

On a insider softball note, the only thing cool about that wack video was the Spanish message delivered by the insider on how to get on the blog. Break out your Spanish dictionary if necessary.
