Greatest team Ever Assembled?

Choice Parts 2014
That was for you Lou 22

Are they the Greatest Team Ever Assembled?

Yes that's arrogant to ask, but a fair question. I don't know, but It really was an amazing season.

One of the best I have ever been through.  From beginning to end.

Here are Some Facts

  • League Champion
  • 24 Straight Wins
  • Down 0-2 in Championship and won 3 straight. 2004 Red Sox Style
  • Great Players hustling. Stars that don't play/act like Stars
  • League Hit Leader
  • Likely Rookie of the Year
  • League Batting Champion
  • Gold Gloves
  • Undefeated "B" Pitcher
Amazing.

The 5 game Championship was such a great series as the celebration was really one of the best I have seen.

Great softball by a great team.

Also, a salute to a classy Empire team who played very well till the end. True Championship play

  4. Are you kidding!?! If it weren't for an error and 2 walks, the "greatest team ever" would have been shut out by a B pitcher and lost 3-0 in game 5.

    1. Empire grinded out games one and two by taking advantage of errors. It goes both ways.

  5. You forgot league RBI leader. The Monster Roberto

  8. Empire was up for the challenge and played very very well. But in the end the better team won. It was a great series with good play by both teams.

  9. I would like to thank Empire for playing so well. If not for them our Chip would not be so sweeeeeeeeet.

  10. The better defensive team won. Bottom line.

  11. No one is saying Choice Parts is not the deserved Big Apple champion . But to call a team that just barely squeeked out a championship against a team they should have crushed, in a depleted 6 team league "the Greatest Team Ever Assembled" or "the GREATEST team Central Park has ever seen" is way too large of a badge to hang on their chest.

    1. They were not called "greatest Team Ever".. it was a question to be debated - good point on your side. As for the league it will never grow again. Never

    2. Yes they were, the first comment called them "Easily the GREATEST team Central Park has ever seen."

    3. The league never had as much open slinging and teams never collected as many talented players as in 2014. It is because there were only 6 teams this year that all of the teams are among the best teams the BASL has ever seen.

  12. I would bet on CP against any other softball team I have seen.

  13. Neither JB nor Rocca are gonna give up more than 1 or 2 earned runs. And after facing this level of speed and movement, it is oddly hard for talented hitters to adapt to the very different styles of Doc and Eric. Parts only put up 5 hits against Eric; less than Rocca yielded. But at this level of play between two evenly matched team, it often comes down to who avoids losing and who gets the one or two timely hits. First two games, things went Empire's way as they got the critical hits and took advantage of Part's poor fielding and failure to score the winning run that was on base in the last inning of both games. Yesterday, Parts' infield made few errors and, in game two, Parts took advantage of two walks and an error in one inning when John Miranda hit a 3 run double, the only legit long ball of the game. Could have gone either way. Seems like every year the semis and finals often come down to one or two key plays; sometimes its what you did and sometimes its what you didn't do. It'll always be like that. Because of the number of tough pitchers and the merger of teams this year, this was the highest level of play the league has ever seen....with the exception of the old Contact teams that are definitely in the mix.

  15. There may have been may have teams that have had a better fielder, hitter, player, etc. On there team however, out of all the team's I've been part of or played for Choice Parts was easily the best TEAM in NYC and took the idea of teamwork and FAMILY to the limit and that's why no matter people say we had what it takes to bring it home this year.
    A TEAM WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
not a player plain and simple

  16. REAL Family and Team come out even when they are not getting paid. Parts is the HIGEST PAID team in central park history, but absolutely NOT the best.
STOP PAYING PLAYERS AND SEE HOW GREAT YOUR TEAM-FAMILY IS.

    1. Every team in league except Rangers was on Payroll help.

      Let's Go thru list

Empire - Rocker - MOST BLATANT. All about the Benjamins
      Cardinals - Slinging Ain't Easy
Radio Free - Patty doesn't pay players but Trenk payrolls team plus sponors, Same shit if not they would forfeit - none of those West guys pay. None
      IronBound - Cedric. Obvious

    2. For the record ironbound paid no man

    3. Cedric, that's obvious. Someone just paid for you guys. So keep it real, same thing

      P.S. Who cares

  18. Rick, you condemn Choice Parts, Rosenmilliner and John Brown pitching yet you play with them??? Hmmmm.........

  19. Wish I could get some of that loot!

  20. I don't know about Greatest Team or any of that, having only played in the league a few years, and barely edging a fine Empire team. But there's absolutely no respect being paid to CP by the runners-up. None. From the time the series started until now. You disrespect a lot of really good players when you cry "Payroll." Your disdain for Rosenmiller has blinded you to reality.

  21. Since Eric pitched as well as Rocker during the playoffs how about throwing a few bucks his way. While I am not the biggest Parts fan I was pulling for their victory over the most arrogant self centered team in the League.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Look, everyone knows that both teams paid certain players. That's the way it is which makes them both tough to root for. Having said that, I too was pulling for the Parts. Many of them are nice down to earth guys. Unfortunately I can't say the same about Empire. They are a bit full of themselves and are not as wonderful as they may think.

  23. Now that Ric is with CP does that mean he will no longer knock Rosenmiller, Brown and co. after drinking the cool aid???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. What exactly is the "cool aid" you're talking about....not that the analogy made any sense. Jim Jones didnt have any chips to go with his kool aid, just dead bodies.

  25. Hey guys. It's softball. Grown men throwing the ball under hand to each other (well, supposedly). Not as fun as it used to be. The league's way too competitive now. Can't go an inning, let alone a game without arguing. Teams dropping out left and right. Been real. My prediction this was Part's last championship. They can't win anymore if there ain't no more league. Been real, fellas. Eight fun years.

  26. The Big Apple League was a joke this year! Not fun to play in and the whole infrastructure of the league needs to be re-evaluated and re-worked. Best team of all-time.... PLEASE! Choice Parts is a very good team (also well paid) and their leader JR would sell out his grandma to win a game, no loyalty at all, hence so many disgruntled ex-CP players out there. However they wouldn't last a round in the old Saturday Central Park League whose fate was eerily like the Big Apple is heading. Paid Pitching and Self-Centered leadership led to teams dropping out and then no league. Big Apple League, get your shit together or it will be gone. In the old days, the Big Apple was a fun league to get some swings in and hang with your buddies after the intensity of the Saturday League, that many Big Apple League guys couldn't even play in. A happy medium would be nice. Anyway congratulations CP.

  27. Every manager who has ever paid a pitcher or position player has destroyed a once great league. You know who you are...everyone else does.
